The German government recently announced that it will impose a flight-departure tax as part of a financial austerity package aimed at cutting the federal budget by EUR 80 billion by 2014. Many airlines have already protested against the proposed measure, citing the hit they've already taken from flight cancellations due to Iceland's volcano. (Photo by Sean Gallup/Getty Images)

In support of the launch of Air Berlin’s new nonstop service from Miami to Berlin, Germany’s capital city, starting in winter 2010/11 passengers can take advantage of a special offer. For the travel period from November 1, 2010 until April 30, 2011, passengers can buy two tickets for the price of one starting from $672 including taxes based on roundtrip travel to Berlin. Via Air Berlin’s hub in Berlin passengers can easily connect to a total of seven other exciting German cities like Düsseldorf, Frankfurt/Main, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Cologne/Bonn, Munich, Nuremberg and Stuttgart.

Tickets for the 2for1 special can be purchased from June 23 through June 28, 2010 through the website at airberlin.com/2for1, in the Service Center at 866-266-5588 or through your travel agent. All 2for1 routes are marked with the symbol “2for1” in the fare display.

The flights to and from Berlin will operate on Mondays and Thursdays beginning on November 1, 2010 utilizing an Airbus A330-200 with 276 seats in economy class and 24 in business class featuring Air Berlin’s award-winning service.

Last year Air Berlin carried a total of 27.9 million passengers world-wide. The company currently has more than 8,500 employees. Every year Air Berlin receives more than 10 awards for service and quality. With an average age of just 5.3 years, Air Berlin has one of the newest fleets in Europe. The airline’s modern aircraft are extremely fuel-efficient and so provide a lasting contribution to the reduction of aviation emissions. Air Berlin offers nonstop service from 6 gateways in the U.S. and Canada, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco (new), Fort Myers and Vancouver (Canada).
