THEATER: Ein Bericht für eine Akademie – Franz Kafka spielt im “Actor’s Gang” in Venice

When: Samstag, 7. August 2010 20:00

City.

“Hearing is a sensation for which you need your whole body. And my whole life is about sound. It’s what makes me tick as a human being. There’s sound absolutely everywhere. You have to listen.” (Evelyn Glennie, Touch the Sound)

This series of documentaries deals with music and the people who dedicate themselves to it. The impact of the music on their lives may vary, but it always runs deep. Through different approaches, the directors and protagonists declare their love of rhythm and sound while providing interesting insights into the ways of life of musicians.

All films are in German with English subtitles.

Lawyers without Rights; The Fate of Jewish Lawyers in Germany after 1933. A traveling exhibition of the German Federal Bar with the support of the Jewish Museum of Florida the German Consulate General in Miami and The Law Offices of Baur & Klein, P.A. At the start of 1933 over 3.000 of the practicing lawyers in Prussia, nearly 30%, were Jewish or of Jewish descent; in Berlin over 1,700, which is more than half. This exhibition charts the life of twenty such German lawyers from 1933 through the years of Hitler’s regime and – for those who survived – beyond. Of this small sample one took his own life and three murdered in concentration camps. The rest escaped to England, America or Palestine. You are invited to celebrate the opening of this exhibition on: June 28, 2010 at 7:00 pm at the Jewish Museum of Florida located at 301 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, FL, 33139.
