Exclusive Interview with Rüdiger Lentz, former Bureau Chief of Deutsche Welle in DC

Rüdiger Lentz has worked as a journalist since 1976 and, for more than 25 years, has been one of the most prominent and renowned German television journalists. He was able to observe all US presidents up close and interviewed numerous politicians and prominent persons. After a life on the fast track, Lentz said farewell to the Deutsche Welle on November 2, 2009, in order to dedicate his time to the new German-American Heritage Center in Washington D.C. which he heads as recently appointed Executive Director (www.gahmusa.org)

Petra Schürmann spoke with Rüdiger Lentz in November 2009 about his most memorable encounters with heads of states and other prominent public figures as well as his recollection of November 9, 1989, the day when the Berlin Wall came down, and his plans for the future.

The interview was published in the Winter 2009/2010 edition of German World Magazine in English and German.
