German-language TV in the US: Highlights in August 2012

There are 5 German channels available via satellite on DISH (www.dish.com) by subscription:
Deutsche Welle (DW), MyGermanTV, MyGermanTV+, ProSiebenSat.1Welt, and GermanKinoPlus.

The Summer Olympic Games in London are being held from ­˜ July until ‚­ August. This
exceptional sporting event sees athletes from all over the world converging on the British
capital to compete for medals in ­ƒ disciplines. The city is bracing for millions of visitors
who, when they’re not enjoying the sports, also need to eat, sleep and be entertained. In
order to be ready for this huge in‡ ux of people during the Games, what’s known as “popups”
are springing up all over the metropolis on the Thamesˆ–ˆimprovised temporary hotels,
restaurants and shops, as well as galleries and clubs. AŽ er the closing ceremony, they will all
disappear without a trace.
In the six-part series “Olympic Pop-Ups,” Euromaxx takes a closer look at this transient
phenomenon.
