Germany Once Again Ranked Most Positively Viewed Country

For the second year in a row, Germany has been ranked the number one most favorably viewed country by the BBC World Service Poll. The survey, which is conducted by GlobeScan and the Program on International Policy Issues (PIPA) annually, asks people in 24 countries to decide which countries have a positive influence on the world and which have a negative influence. More than half of the countries in the survey had an overwhelmingly positive view of Germany. Overall, 60 percent of respondants reported a positive view of Germany. According to the results, 86 percent of those polled in Australia and the UK have a positive view of Germany. South Korea and France follow close behind with 84 and 83 percent respectively.
Within the US, views of Germany have become steadily more favorable over the past two years. In 2014, the BBC reported that 73 percent of Americans view Germany as a positive influence on the world and only 13 percent view it as a negative influence. This is an increase of two percent compared to the 2013 report and about five percent compared to 2012. The percentage of those with a negative view of Germany has remained the same.
