Come join us for a game of “Torwandschiessen” on Young Germany.
Torwandschießen is a combination of the words Torwand (goal wall) and schießen (to shoot). What is your score?
Leonard DiCaprio, whose mother Irmelin Indenbirken is German, watched in Cape Town as Germany beat Argentina 4-0. He, was seated right behind Mick Jagger, but potentially harming the legendary rocker’s ears did not keep the movie star from frequently standing up and tooting the Vuvuzela. See the slide show.
Guess it is not German genes that let us play the vuvuzela as well as Berlin’s orchestra members, but rather years of practice:
In case you were bothered by the Vuvuzelas like pretty much everybody else, just ask the Germans!
This is how this instrument is properly played:
Vuvuzelas am Gendarmenmarkt Brahms and Ravel

We cheered for the US team and are proud of how far we went in the World Cup this year! But, we are not ready for the really big boys yet! Being of German Hungarian descent, we are rooting for Germany to win the cup! My Dad , Rudolph Albert Freidrich Mienert, grew up in Westa Wanna and played when he was a little boy after working all day in the farm fields. He died on January 1st, 2001 at the age of 93 and was always proud to watch his grandson Pete, #23, play solid defense, and also score sneaky goals, on the soccer field. I wish he were still here to watch these games – he would have loved them but hated the vouvouzelas! Keep wearing that blue shirt coach and beat Spain! Germany vs. the Netherlands would be an awesome game! Tscheus(sp?) as Dad would have said!
