Simon Ammann of Switzerland has won the first gold medal of the Vancouver Winter Olympics on the normal hill in men’s ski jump, Austria’s Gregor Schlierenzauer won the bronze medal.

Austria has 81 athletes at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, including its biggest ski stars, in a bid to dominate the Alpine events as it did during the last Games in Torino. The final list gives pride of place to the skiers, led by two-time Torino medallist Marlies Schild, the reigning world champion in combined Kathrin Zettel and Benjamin Raich, two-time Olympic champion in 2006 and current leader in the overall World Cup standings.

Complete list of

AUSTRIAN ATHLETES

GERMAN ATHLETES

SWISS ATHLETES

And let’s not forget about a favorite of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Austria’s Special Olympics’ Committee Honorary President, THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS
